a new town centre…
The Marketplace Barnsley scheme, due for completion in 2015, is being undertaken in partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Remaking Barnsley.
• Major department store
• Seven screen cinema
• 35 retail and leisure units
• 850 car parking spaces
• Extended market hall
The £125m project has been designed by leading architect Holder Mathias and will create a completely new retail core for the town, replacing the existing Metropolitan shopping centre.
The site extends to 4.5 hectares and lies at the heart of the defined retail area within the wider town centre and will connect with the new market square and the towns new Transport Interchange.
The scheme will provide large, modern and well configured units, which will primarily attract stores not currently represented in Barnsley, thus providing a significantly better retail offer for the town.
